Inside a holiday hideaway that helps get Central Ohio decorated for Christmas
It can be as busy as Santa's workshop, but no toys are built there, just everything else that holds Christmas cheer.
"We have a warehouse full of elves here, " said Genevieve Mills of Oakland Nursery.
Welcome to Oakland Nursery's holiday warehouse.
More than 500 holiday arrangements -- from the twinkling traditional look to something a little more Scarlet and Gray.
"We start purchasing in January, " said Mills. "We start building in August and we've been building ever since."
This is where many of the trees you see around town in office buildings are built and stored. Including the trees you see in the Statehouse.
"We do trees for most of the major hospitals in Columbus, law firms, medical offices and even private residences, " Mills said.
For the first time, the designers are putting together a 25 foot tree that will go in the Statehouse. Mills says they also decorate 240 trees for Nationwide Children's Hospital. These trees are whimsical, full of color and look like a page from a Doctor Seuss book.
And delivering the trees are the best part of their job. Especially when they deliver the trees to Children's Hospital.
""It's an army of us coming in with all of these trees and people stop and watch us, kids are smiling, " Mills said.
A fulfilling job, with a big requirement.
"The key component for this job is you must be able to handle Christmas year round, " Mills said, " And you must have a love of glitter."
