Cold weather likely here to stay in Central Ohio
In the first full week of December, Central Ohio is experiencing winter-like temperatures.
Meteorologist Andrew Buck Michael says temperatures won't exceed 35 degrees Thursday.
The cold December comes after a cooler November than normal with only seven days that hit over 60 degrees and an additional nine days over 50 degrees.
Michael attributed the colder temperatures to a change in the polar jet stream.
"A huge 'blocking high' is over the western half of the country and causing the polar jet stream to dive farther south for the eastern half of the US," said Michael. "Most of our winter will likely see this scenerio. This will also push in quick moving 'clipper' systems with light snow every few days as long as this pattern stays in place."
Central Ohio could see snow this weekend. Michael is prediciting up to an inch on Saturday.
