Operation Overdrive leads to 53 arrests during six-month initiative

Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther announced the results of Operation Overdrive on Wednesday.

The national initiative targeted drug-related violence, drug poisonings and overdose deaths.

The Columbus Division of Police worked with the DEA beginning in October 2022.

During the briefing on Wednesday, police said in those six months, Operation Overdrive led to 53 arrests on violence, drug trafficking and fraud charges.

Police recovered 50 guns including 42 handguns. They also seized distribution amounts of fentanyl, meth, cocaine and marijuana.
