COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Columbus Metropolitan Library's board of trustees announced a resolution for a continuing levy to appear on the November ballot has been approved.
The 1.5 mill levy amounts to $53 for each $100,000 of the appraised value by the Franklin County auditor.
A 2.8 mill levy was approved on the 2010 ballot by Franklin County voters.
“We committed to Franklin County voters in 2010 that we would not return to them for additional levy funds for a minimum of 10 years,” the library's CEO Patrick Losinski said in a press release Thursday. “Strong fiscal stewardship has stretched that funding 13 years – 30% beyond our promise to voters."
It would, if passed, generate more than $39 million for the first year of collection, which Losinski says will go toward investments in resources such as materials, facilities, technology, and programs.
