Neighbors along Eakin Road stood at a west side intersection in tears Tuesday as they recalled rushing to the aid of a mother who overdosed with her baby in the backseat.

Police said Christian Kirk stole the car she was driving from a 70-year-old woman Sunday before taking Xanax and snorting heroin.

Once revived, Kirk told officers she felt ill so she pulled over. Neighbors recall seeing her parked in a drive way passed out and then rolling into the road.

The first woman who rushed to the car removed the 19-month-old little girl who she said was crawling around unrestrained.

Officers said Kirk was administered naloxone and then placed into a police car. They said dash cam video in the cruiser caught Kirk consuming the rest of the Xanax bars in her pocket as a way to hide the evidence.

Children services were called to the scene Sunday.

Kirk faced a judge Tuesday on charges of OVI, child endangering and tampering with evidence.

She remains locked up at the Franklin County Jail.
