COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Another cool evening is expected as we head into the holiday weekend.
Temperatures will climb for the next few days, and we will be well-above average next week. The holiday weekend looks mainly dry except for a slight chance of a few sprinkles on Sunday.
FRIDAY NIGHT: mainly clear, cool, low 51.
SATURDAY: sunshine in the morning with increasing clouds during the day, warmer, high 77.
SUNDAY: mostly cloudy, slight chance of showers, high 74.
MEMORIAL DAY: partly cloudy, slight chance of isolated showers, high 83.
TUESDAY: mostly cloudy, slight chance of isolated showers, high 87.
WEDNESDAY: partly cloudy, high 87.
THURSDAY: partly cloudy, high 88.
FRIDAY: mostly cloudy, high 89.
SPACE STATION: Excellent opportunity to see the Space Station tonight! It will appear just above the NW horizon and spend four minutes racing toward the ENE, reaching a height of 60 above the horizon before it disappears. Spectacular!
Clear skies prevail across the state this afternoon and temperatures are climbing more than they did yesterday. By 1pm, most of the state is already in the upper-60s and not as windy as Thursday. High pressure continues to provide a protective dome and will keep us mainly clear tonight.
The storm system off the East Coast is gathering strength and pushing rain across the Carolina coast this afternoon. That system will very slowly track up the Atlantic Seaboard during the weekend. Ohio is on the far-western edge of the system and may see a few scattered or isolated showers, especially on Sunday. That said, your chances of staying dry are much better than your chances of getting wet. Outdoor plans should be mainly fine for the holiday weekend.
High pressure remains in the region through most of next week. With a High closer to the caps on east coast, the southerly breezes in Ohio will help boost our temperatures. Ohio will spend much of the week in the upper-80s. However, our humidity stays relatively low; so we stay a little more comfortable and dry.
