COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — Two Columbus police officers are raising money to help a 14-year-old boy who witnessed an act of violence by his father against his mother.
Officers Nicole Mancini and Tyler Hicks recently responded to a domestic violence call in which the boy’s father attempted to kill his mother right in front of him.
The officers were touched by how kind and polite the boy was despite the troubles he has endured in his life, The Starfish Assignment said.
After finding out the boy didn’t have much in the way of Christmas presents and that he would like to start playing basketball, Mancini and Hicks decided they would like to buy him a pair of basketball shoes.
Once the boy receives the shoes, the officers and the Adams Recreation Center are going to help him get in touch with a program to help him with his basketball skills.
