COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — Columbus Police's public information officer has been placed on leave pending investigation where Crimes Against Children task force was involved.
Sgt. Dean Worthington, 51, was relieved from duty Tuesday, his gun and badge were turned in.
“He’s been relieved of his assignment,” said Denise Alex-Bouzounis, a Columbus Police spokeswoman. “There is an investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.”
Worthington has been the department's spokesperson since last September. Before that, he spent six years in the Internal Affairs Bureau. He was promoted to sergeant in 2006 per CPD.
Columbus Police said a search warrant was executed July 16 of Worthington's home. Crimes Against Children task force was involved in the search per CPD.
