An Ohio dad said he wanted to make sure his daughter got the message that bullying is unacceptable, and now the video of the punishment has gone viral.

The Toledo-area dad made his 10-year-old walk five miles to school in near-freezing temperatures after she was kicked off the school bus due to bullying another student. He then posted video on social media showing the girl walking down the road while he drives behind her.

"Let me make this extremely clear, bullying is unacceptable. Especially in my household," Matt Cox says on the video.

Cox says it was the second time his daughter was suspended from the bus this year because of bullying, and he wanted to make sure she was held accountable and thought about the consequences. "I'm not going to be another parent that's just going to brush things under the rug and say kids will be kids," Cox told Toledo ABC affiliate WTVG.

The dad says in the video he knows a lot of parents will disagree with him, but he was doing what he thinks is right to make sure his daughter stops the bullying. The video quickly went viral, with millions of people viewing it and hundreds of thousands commenting. In his interview with WTVG, Cox says he was really touched by people's stories of bullying and how it impacted their lives.

The five-mile walk wasn't all in one day, Cox said it was broken up over her three-day suspension, with the 10-year-old walking part of the distance each day.
