COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — From storage units to a shopping center, The Fairy Goodmothers are back in action, handing out free prom dresses.
There was nothing but smiles inside the Cinderella Boutique Sunday afternoon.
A few weeks ago the organization said it almost closed for good because of COVID and the need for volunteers.
A little magic, and poof! With close to 3,000 prom dresses the group is making fairytales come true after three years.
It is set up inside Worthington Place, with racks and racks of choices.
Every weekend this month the Cinderella Boutique will be open, handing out free dresses.
Jenna Homan the president of the nonprofit says it was a miracle it worked out because they almost had nowhere to go.
"We found the space here at shops of Worthington place, it was really a blessing because we had nowhere to go," Homan said. "We weren't sure where we were going to land and it turns out this is our original location and they said we were more than welcome to come back. It was a little rough to get things up and running but we're ready and the dresses have been going all weekend long."
Last weekend they gave away close to 500 dresses, this weekend they anticipate doing the same
