COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — A Columbus mom and her two kids are no longer living in their East Livingston Avenue home after it was burglarized twice within a week.
“It’s a scary feeling,” said Alecia Eli, "I am just glad I was not here when it happened.”
Eli tells ABC 6/FOX 28, Thieves busted into the home while she was taking care of a sick relative who lives out-of-town, and stole six smart televisions, electronics, expensive purses, and clothing.
“Leave us alone, we are hard-working people,” said Eli, “just stuff I worked so hard for, it’s sad that somebody would do this to me.”
One of the burglars was captured on a doorbell camera Memorial Day, kicking in the front door to get inside, apparently not realizing he was being recorded.
“He didn’t know,” said Eli, “that’s why the cameras are so good, it just looks like a doorbell, and he looked right into it.”
The Columbus Division of Police is now investigating to determine if the two break-ins are connected.
“Let’s get these creeps off the street, so we can live and have stuff, and don’t have to be worried,” said Eli.
