Fans catching Columbus Blue Jackets playoff fever
For the first time in franchise history, the Columbus Blue Jackets lead a playoff series. The Jackets took the win in overtime, so you can imagine fans were on edge.
"I was psyched,” said a Blue Jackets Fan Eric Rausch.
"It was a great game!” said another fan Tyler Dickson.
"I was on the edge of my seat,” said Blue Jackets fan Dustin Stinson.
That pretty much summed up how Blue Jackets fans were feeling 24 hours after Thursday’s game one of the series.
"I'm actually still dumbfounded by last night's game, I think I'm coming out of shock,” said “R” Bar Owner Michael Darr.
The game-winning goal in overtime propelled the Blue Jackets to win in Game One of the Eastern Conference first round Thursday night, definitely making history.
"We're excited that we have the first game under our belts,” said the Columbus Blue Jackets Director of Communications Karen Davis. “We're the first road team to have won a first round series this season so we'll take that!"
Fans couldn't be happier. We caught up with some die-hard fans buying gear and said this year's playoffs feel different.
“It's been a long run in Columbus, we're ready for it! We're ready to get beyond Round One at least and see what can happen,” said Eric Rausch who bought a Blue Jackets t-shirt.
Not only are we off to a good start but they're hoping there's enough momentum to go all the way.
"I'm so excited! I can't wait! It would be huge to go up 2-0 from Washington coming home, Game 3 at home so I'm really hoping we get that win again,” said Dickson.
The next game is Sunday April 15th at 7:30pm in Washington D.C. and the series returns to Columbus on Tuesday for Game Three.
