NEWARK, Ohio — A former Newark St. Francis de Sales Parish accountant is accused of stealing more than $150,000 in parish funds.
On Thursday, the Newark Division of Police arrested 39-year-old Amber McCracken, of Newark, after she acknowledged stealing over $100,000 in parish funds.
In August of 2016, Newark Police initiated a grand theft investigation into McCracken. Upon further investigation, Newark police requested and received assistance from the Special Investigations Unit of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Office of the Attorney General.
Additional stolen monies were then identified, and in all, totaled more than $150,000 in stolen parish funds.
McCracken was transported to the Licking County Justice Center.
This case will be forwarded to The Licking County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal charges, according to the Newark Division of Police.
