Former nurse accused of faking cancer for cash sentenced 24 months in prison

    A former Ohio State University nurse who has been charged with scamming former co-workers was sentenced to 24 months in prison on Monday

    Tawni Fuller, 34, pleaded guilty to telecommunications fraud, theft and forgery after she lied to her co-workers about having terminal lung cancer in 2016.

    Fuller previously admitted to the Ohio Board of Nursing that she falsified her medical condition and blamed her actions on depression.

    Prosecutors say Fuller took tens-of-thousands of dollars in sick pay, cash, gift cards and other donations after she about the cancer diagnoses.
