Governor Kasich reacts to Westerville shooting; offers assistance of Ohio State Patrol
Westerville native, Governor John Kasich, reacted to the fatal shootings of two Westerville police officers.
He took to Twitter to announce his sadness and pledge the assistance of the Ohio State Patrol in any way that the Westerville Division of Police may need.
I am very saddened to learn of the deaths of two of my hometown police officers today. I have spoken with Westerville city leaders and pledged the full assistance of the Ohio Highway Patrol in any way they need.
According to Westerville Division of Police, the two officers were killed after responding to a 911 hangup Saturday morning.
Police say when officers arrived, someone started firing shots at the officers.
One officer was killed at the scene, the other was taken to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in critical condition, where they succumbed to their injuries.
