Man charged with murder in West Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — The Columbus Division of Police says a man has been charged with murder in a fatal shooting on the city's west side.

Henry Borges, 36, is charged with murder in the death of Ricky Rittenberry, 60, according to police.

On December 1, police responded to a shotspotter complaint in the area of 641 Racine Avenue.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim, Rittenberry, had already been taken to the hospital by a witness.

Police said through their investigation, it was determined that Borges shot Rittenberry.

Borges was initially charged with felonious assault, but that charge was upgraded to murder Wednesday after Rittenberry died as a result of his injuries.

This is the 162nd homicide of the year in Columbus.
