COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — In a typical summer, LifeCare Alliance will give out anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 fans during their ‘fan campaign.’ After days of 90-degree heat and plenty of humidity, they have already passed out more than 1,000 fans.
“It’s a blessing, it’s like Christmas,” said Ted and Janice Onocki, who received a fan. “Christmas in the 90-degree heat!”
Ted and Janice Onocki are just two of the many Central Ohio residents receiving the gifts of cool air on yet another brutal summer day.
"We've gotten through it, I'm just hot and sweaty all the time,” said Onocki. “I don’t come out much in this kind of weather.”
The Onocki’s are not the only ones looking to beat the heat.
“The need is wild right now because temperatures are in the 90s and it’s muggy,” said Chuck Gehring, President, and CEO of LifeCare Alliance.
LifeCare Alliance will provide a fan to anyone in need, no questions asked, just provide your driver's license information. All you have to do is call the fan hotline number. That number is 614-437-2870.
For those who don’t need a fan but want to help with the campaign, there’s a way to do that too.
"All these fans came from people in the community. Going to a store, buying them, and dropping them off at a Central Ohio fire station,” said Gehring.
You can also call the Lowe’s store on Silver Drive. They are working with LifeCare Alliance and will take down credit card payments over the phone.
