Nationwide announced on Wednesday that they would be cutting 400 positions across the country.

The company employs 35,000 associates in the US, according to a news release.

Director of Public Relations Eric Hardgrove said, "the ongoing adjustments we're making position Nationwide to provide an increasingly seamless experience for members and distribution partners and positions the company for long-term growth."

"While we always strive to manage our needs through attrition, some of the plans we are implementing this autumn impact 400 of our associates," Hardgrove said.

The job losses are reportedly dispersed across the country and across their various business lines and staff functions that support these businesses.

Hardgrove said they know how difficult these types of actions can impact employees.

The company currently has 800 open positions in the US with roughly 435 of those in Central Ohio.
