COLUMBUS, Ohio — Franklinton Art District's two-day Urban Scrawl festival is celebrating its 13th year this weekend with artists creating nearly 60 public murals.
Event organizers say this is a great way to revitalize the neighborhood and raise money for charity.
"We think it's important for people to support the arts becasue arts really make the community that you live in. When you drive around your neighborhood and you see murals, or you see creations from people who know live in your neighborhood it gives you a sense of place and Franklinton is where many people are creating art in Columbus now," said Franklinton Arts District Board President Adam Herman.
There were also sections for kids to make their own creations, called Scrawl Jr.
The event runs through Sunday at 6 pm, and also features popular-area food trucks.
