COLUMBUS, Ohio — Dipali Dutta says the view from her Ramblewood Court home isn't one she's crazy about. Across the street? A forest of fig tress, complete with their own watering system.
The plants canvass the lawn front and back, as well as the driveway and the curb.
"It's like a jungle," Dutta said.
The homeowner says he became fond of the look and taste of the ornamental fruit about five-years ago. He started with a few plants, now that's grown to dozens of plants that represent 80 different varieties.
Neighbors called code enforcement because they hate the look and say it's affecting home sales.
The homeowner also called the city and they told him to grow away. He says he gives the fruit to family and friends.
But his neighbors don't buy it.
Nevertheless, the homeowner says the figs are there to stay, and he'll continue to cover his landscape each summer as long as he calls the place home.
