COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - An Ohio lawmaker is pushing to prohibit smoking in a vehicle if there's a passenger younger than 6.
Senator Tina Maharath, D - Columbus, introduced the legislature, which proposes that any violators would be fined $500. If a person is found to be a repeat offender, they would face another $500 fine, plus $250 for each subsequent violation.
The proposal covers any lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe or lighted smoking device for burning tobacco. It's not clear whether vaping would be included.
Senator Maharath just introduced the legislation, which is currently waiting on committee assignment.
