Ohio State University has issued 228 interim suspensions for students who have broken COVID-19 guidelines and protocols, according to university spokesman Ben Johnson.

On Friday, Aug. 21, the university sent a letter to students saying students who host or attend large parties or gatherings could be suspended. The letter also said students organizations involved could lose their recognition or funding.

In the letter, Vice President of Student Life Melissa S. Shivers reminded students they are required to wear a face mask, practice social distancing and avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.

Classes begin at Ohio State on Tuesday.
