One dead, another hospitalized after shooting, crash in south Columbus

Columbus police have responded to a deadly shooting on the 200 block of Buffalo Court in south Columbus.

The shooting happened at 4:57 p.m. Sunday, and at 5:06 p.m. one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to CPD, when officers arrived they found two adults suffering from from gunshot wounds.

The first victim was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m. This victim was inside of a sedan that had crashed into a nearby treeline.

Police say that a second, male victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a nearby apartment complex. He was taken from the scene to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. As of 6:15 p.m., that victim was considered to be in stable condition.

CPD say that the first victim was seated inside of the sedan when the second, male victim approached the sedan. They held a brief conversation before a third adult also approached the sedan.

That is when shots were fired, said police in a statement.

No suspect is reported to be in custody at this time, and the deceased victim's next-of-kin are being notified by police.
