Police identify woman in fatal hit-and-run in east Columbus


(COLUMBUS, OHIO) -Columbus Police said a person is in life-threatening condition after being hit by a vehicle in East Columbus Saturday morning.

Police said the hit-and-run happened near the intersection of South James Road and Dale Avenue around 4:15 a.m.

Tarinesha Caldwell, 28, of Columbus was crossing James Rd south of Dale Ave. Upon reaching the left northbound lane of James Road, she was struck by a 2005 Ford Taurus with Ohio temp tags, that was going northbound, police say

A witness was able to follow the Taurus and obtained the tag number

Police said the Caldwell was transported to Grant Medical Center in life-threatening condition. Caldwell succumb to her injuries and was pronounced dead just before 6 a.m.

Anyone with any information about the driver of the the Ford Taurus and its location is asked to call the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit at (614) 645 4767.

The accident is still under investigation. This marks the 47th traffic related fatality this year
