Parents of a man found unresponsive at Franklin County jail have a lot of questions about how their son died.

Brent Gibney, 29, was discovered unresponsive in his cell Sunday, was taken to Grant Hospital, and died Wednesday. Gibney had been in the jail for seven months, awaiting trial on charges of bank robbery

Gibney's parents, who live in Florida, said they were first notified of their son's medical issues when an inmate called them with the information. The Franklin County sheriff's office is investigating the death, but said the coroner ruled there were no signs of foul play.

Gibney's parents said despite the fact that their son had committed a crime, he still deserved to be treated humanely.

"People make mistakes and they have to pay for what they've done. But that doesn't mean that someone is a total waste of society becuase they messed up," said Debbie Gibney.
