A man shot by a Columbus police officer will continue to receive medical care as prosecutors consider charges against him.

Body camera video showed Michael Cleveland, 66, running from an officer during a traffic stop earlier this month.

The video showed Cleveland getting out of his pickup truck and hustling away from officer Joshua Ohlinger. A few seconds later, Ohlinger shot at Cleveland six times as Cleveland was running away.

Police said Cleveland dropped a gun and his criminal history doesn't allow him to legally have one.

A weapons charge was filed against Cleveland. Prosecutors have agreed to seek a direct indictment in place of that.

The BCI continues to investigate the shooting.
