Record meth bust discovered during routine hotel inspection
A California man is spending time in a Columbus area jail after illegal drugs were discovered in his hotel room during an annual inspection.
The Jackson Township fire marshal inspected the Days Inn on Stringtown Road on Wednesday to identify any fire code violations in the hotel. When he came to room 111, he knocked and police say hotel guest DeCarlo Henderson allowed him inside. Once in the room, the fire marshal saw a loaded gun, large amounts of cash and illegal drugs in plain sight.
He called in Grove City police who were there during the inspections. They took Henderson into custody and said they found 442 grams of methamphetamine, 61 grams of cocaine and 24 grams of heroin packaged for distribution in his room. The street value of the drugs exceeding $44,000. Investigators also seized over $900 in cash.
Grove City Police said the amount of meth is more than what they've seized in recent years.
Henderson faced a judge for the drugs Thursday. At last check, he remained in jail on a $1.2 million bond.
