Sales tax holiday for school supplies kicks off Friday
The sales tax holiday returns to Ohio this Friday.
According to the Department of Taxation, the holiday will give parents a break when paying for school items.
The break applies to clothing priced under $75 per item and school supplies priced under $20 per item.
The holiday starts Friday August 4th and runs through Sunday August 6th.
The Ohio Council of Retail Merchants says that tax holiday along with increasing jobs has helped boost Ohio's economy.
"With 58,000 new jobs added in Ohio since last June, consumer confidence is rising. Ohio's sales tax holiday adds to that confidence by providing great bargains for everyone in the market for clothes, shoes or school materials," said Gordon Gough, President/CEO of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants.
The tax holiday was made possible with the passing of Senate Bill 9. It was signed into law by Governor Kasich this past June.
