COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Friday, the Columbus Division of Police announced a select team of Vice Officers will resume operations immediately.
The Division says these officers will focus on nuisance abatement and will work in conjunction with the City Attorney's office, and liquor violations.
In a statement, the Division said:
The internal review of policies, procedures and training of the Vice Unit that began in September will continue as will the FBI criminal investigation.
The continued pause creates an opportunity for the Columbus Division of Police to evaluate and improve the duties of the Vice Unit while prioritizing the concerns impacting our community.
Since September, the Division has relieved three members of the Vice Unit of their regular assignments. Their removal was a result of the FBI investigation.
Columbus Police and the FBI are currently investigating the unit.
