Suspect in custody after reported hostage situation at north Columbus Taco Bell
A suspect is in custody after a police-incident at a north Columbus Taco Bell.
Police were on scene at the PNC Bank on East Dublin-Granville Road about 2:30pm Tuesday after a reported bank robbery. Not long after, people at a nearby apartment building say they called police about a possible suspect after seeing a man with ink on him.
Witnesses at the apartments told ABC 6/FOX 28 when police responded to the scene the man jumped out of a second story window and took off running.
Police were then called to a Taco Bell less than a mile from the PNC Bank, where the suspect reportedly fled. Officers and SWAT converged on the scene after reports of possible hostages inside the restaurant. After several minutes, with police, SWAT, K9s, and EMTs on the scene, a man came out of the restaurant and was taken into custody.
Both directions of State Route 161 were shut down near Maple Canyon Avenue while police worked at the scene.
