Target to open new store near New Albany next year
Target has announced plans to open a new store in the greater Columbus Area, near New Albany, around the intersection of Hamilton Road and State Route 161.
The planned 125,000 square foot store will be part of an additional mixed-use development in the area, and will be a new design, which Target says makes shopping easier. The company says they will be hiring approximately 125 employees for the store.
Design elements of the store include:
- Displays at varying heights to attract visitors to new and featured merchandise.
- A specialty beauty environment that encourages customers to shop.
- A curved center aisle to create items like sports merchandise, kids' products pop and apparel.
- A more up-to-date look and feel featuring concrete and stenciled floors, LED lighting, neutral paint and other aesthetic components
The new Target will also offer an Order Pickup, which gives shoppers the option of ordering on Target.com and picking up the products at the store in less than an hour.
“We look forward to opening our newest store in Ohio to serve both the Columbus and New Albany communities. This full-size Target store will feature our latest design thinking to offer guests a shopping experience that’s even easier and more inspiring,” said Target's Mark Schindele in a statement.
“The mixed-use development in the Hamilton Road-161 area brings opportunities for our residents. The City of Columbus values the investment by Target, especially its commitment to living-wage jobs,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther.
This will be the 16th Target in central Ohio.
