COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - A 19-year-old died after she was shot late Wednesday night outside her grandfather's southeast Columbus home. Police say Jordan C.V. Williams was knocking on the window, trying to get into the home, when she was shot and fatally wounded.
Williams lived at the home, but didn't have her keys with her at the time, investigators said, so she tried knocking on the door and then window to wake up her grandfather. Booker Moody, 72, shot once through the window with a shotgun. Police said he told them he didn't look out the window before or after firing, and it's possible he thought the teen was an intruder.
Williams' one-year-old daughter was also in the home at the time; she was uninjured.
Relatives say Moody has dementia. Moody was arrested and charged with murder. Police say they are still investigating, and will get a mental evaluation.
