Ten local contestants will put their culinary skills to the test in the Columbus Pesto Championship at Columbus State Community College.

The 2020 Columbus Pesto Championship will be held on January 26 at Columbus State's Mitchell Hall.

The ten contestants are David Applegett, Carmine Catullo, Reese Flowers, Charlotte Hickcox, Tyler Kendall, Liz Martin, Michael Moscato, Taylor Ramsey, Rob Rehm and Spencer Saylor.

The competition will be judged in part by Roberto Panizza, the "King of Pesto," who started the World Pesto Competition in Genoa, Italy in 2007. His goal is to conserve the traditional method of preparing Genovese pesto.

The winner of the competition will be flown to Genoa and will have the opportunity to compete in the Genoa World Pesto Competition on March 28.
