An Upper Arlington police lieutenant was placed on paid administrative leave after undercover officers with Columbus police claimed they busted him in a prostitution sting.

Court records indicate Lt. Jeffrey Conrad answered an ad on Backpage.com that was placed by officers with the Columbus Vice Squad. CPD officers said Conrad arranged to meet the decoy prostitute in a room at Varsity Inn on Olentangy River Rd. Once there, officers stated Conrad paid the undercover $40 for sex.

Once discovering Conrad was an officer himself, his police chief was called, came to the scene and she placed him on administrative leave.

Internal Affairs with UAPD is now conducting its own investigation to determine if internal charges will also be filed against Conrad. That investigation should take several weeks.

Conrad became a lieutenant in 2016, leads the patrol division for Upper Arlington and supervises 32 of the department’s 50 officers.
