A senior Upper Arlington student is speaking out about the high school’s gender-neutral bathrooms.

They said some locks are broken, students have been walked in on, and some are unclean.

“We are a full quarter in and it is a nightmare. These bathrooms have made many students severely uncomfortable.”

The district has a few “private” bathrooms in the new high school or stalls with ceiling to floor walls and locking doors. so anyone can use them making them gender-neutral.

The senior said they’re so private students are abusing them, even breaking the locks. So students are walking in on one another.

"This is indeed happening several times a day. The locks are broken.”

Upper Arlington Schools said they are now speaking with the concerned student. They also found that some locks were broken and were immediately fixed. They said out of the dozens and dozens of stalls only a couple were broken.

The district said it hasn't gotten any other complaints other than from the one student, but it will continue to look into it.
