COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A push to get more Medicaid members vaccinated is underway. Ohio’s Medicaid Managed Care Plans now doubling incentives for those who receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
The incentive program started when Gov. DeWine set a vaccination goal.
“The governor challenged the managed care plans to get an additional 900,000 Medicaid members vaccinated between June 15 and September 15,” said Kelly O’Reilly, the President and CEO of the Ohio Association of Health Plans.
In less than two weeks, the state is nearly halfway to that goal. Still, there’s a way to go.
“Now, a $100 gift card for every Medicaid member that gets out and gets vaccinated,” said O’Reilly.
The Ohio Association of Health Plans have partnered with medical providers, pharmacies, and community events to hold vaccination clinics. This will hopefully eliminate any barriers that could hold an eligible member back from getting the vaccine.
“We’re working on different times," said O’Reilly. "Weekend vaccine clinics, evening vaccine clinics."
There is also transportation help, if a Medicaid member reaches out to their Medicaid Managed Care Plans, they will help get them to the shot.
