COLUMBUS, Ohio — Franklin County Sheriff's Office released dash cam video of a deputy who stopped a man from jumping over an overpass on Sunday.
According to their Facebook page, just after 6:15 a.m. Deputy William Ball who was out doing routine patrol in the area of Georgesville Road and I-270, when he witnessed a man looking over the wall of the overpass.
Deputy Ball got out of his cruiser and approached the man. He tried to get the man away from the wall by engaging him in conversation.
The sheriff's office said the male subject started to open up and talk with Deputy Ball about the feelings he was having about wanting to harm himself.
They said the man started walking towards Deputy Ball stating that he would have to shoot him to get him to stop from jumping.
He then went back towards the wall and started yelling, "I’m sorry, I got nothing left; I’m just done” as he attempted to jump over the wall."
Deputy Ball was able to grab a hold of the man's legs and pulled him back onto the roadway when he started to resist.
The sheriff's office said a struggle lasted for several seconds but Deputy Ball was able to get the man away from the wall and under control.

He was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation and is not being named at this time.
