Weather cancels several Friday events across Central Ohio, including ComFest
The non-stop rain Friday has led to outside events across the area being canceled for the night.
ComFest organized announced about 1:00pm they were closing down for Friday due to weather conditions in Columbus. In a statement released by organizers they said, it is the best decision for the safety of the public and the festival workers and to protect park grounds from damage. But they'll reopen Saturday morning at 9:00 am as scheduled, and will extend the hours until 11:00pm.
Radio station 106.7 The Beat also announced they were postponing their Summer Beat Down concert with Lil'Wayne and friends due to the weather. They haven't yet announced a make up date for the concert.
Rhythm on the River, another popular summer event, also had to cancel Friday's planned concert with The Fabulous Thunderbirds due to the rain and weather warnings.
The Columbus Clippers have postponed Friday's game against the Toledo. The game will be re-scheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader on August 5.
The Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics Ohio State Summer Games have also been postponed with a modified version scheduled to take place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Flicks on the Bricks, an outdoor movie night at Hilliard's Station Park, has also been cancelled.
Flash Flood Warnings were in place for most of Central Ohio, as the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Cindy dumped heavy rain all day Friday. But good news for your weekend - ABC 6/FOX 28 meteorologists say it should be dry and sunny starting Saturday morning.
