A man is dead after a construction site accident between Plain City and Dublin Thursday morning.

The Union County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened in the 7000 block of Hyland Croy Road. A 53-year-old man was hit by lumber that had fallen off a skid steer.

Rodney C. Hickman was rushed to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he later died. The sheriff said first responders were on scene to treat the Westerville man within two minutes.

Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were called to the site following the incident.

Initial investigation revealed that several straps on a humble bundle containing over 100 boards failed while being lifted by a skid steer. Hickman was hit by several 1x8x16 treated poplar boards in the head and chest, said the sheriff.

    The incident remained under investigation.
