Westerville police chief emotional while talking about fallen officers

Emotions ran high on Saturday afternoon after two Westerville police officers were killed in the line of duty.

The Westerville Division of Police Chief Joe Chief Joe Morbitzer updated the media on the shooting death of Officer Eric Joering and Officer Anthony Morelli media during.

Officer Joering and Officer Morelli were responding to a 911 hang up in the area of Crosswind Drive at 12:02 p.m.

When Joering and Morelli arrived to the scene they were met with gunfire.

Chief Morbitzer said Officer Joering dead at scene and Officer Morelli was pronounced at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.

"Two officers gave their life today responding to a call for assistance out of a potential domestic situation. Both officers gave their life in the protection of others, both are true American hero's " Chief Morbitzer said.
