Good Samaritans jump in to help woman they say appeared to be dumped during an overdose
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) — Extraordinary video shows neighbors helping a woman they say appeared to have been dumped and left to die in the middle of an overdose.
Chattanooga police say she survived thanks to good Samaritans.
The footage posted to Facebook shows the woman lying by a curb motionless.
Those good Samaritans rush in and preform CPR, before police and first responders arrive.
Panicked neighbors, including Garrick Doyle tried to revive the unconscious woman.
"I didn't want her to die," he said. "Especially since I was there, I felt as though I could do something about it."
When police arrived, you can hear neighbors tell officers they saw someone pull up and push the woman out of the car.
Amanda Smothers says she walks the area every day with her 2-year-old son.
She knew about the incident when we stopped her Thursday, but we showed her the video of it.
"It's just like throwing someone away," she said. "It's awful."
