SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME) -- The case of a 3-year-old Mainer's missing teddy bear has been solved.

Nathan Higgins’ teddy bear has been found.

It went missing at the Maine Mall in South Portland on Wednesday.

When the family couldn't find it, his aunt took to social media to ask for help.

The post went viral.

Nathan’s mother, Kelsey Higgins, says the bear was found by a man and his 3-year-old daughter in the mall’s parking lot.

The man told Kelsey he doesn’t usually let his daughter pick things off the ground, but said she really wanted to save the bear and he figured it would get ruined.

Kelsey said the man saw the social media posts and realized it was Nathan’s bear. He then reached out to Kelsey to let her know he found it.

Nathan's dad died in a car crash last year and the bear was custom made. It was meant to carry some of his father's ashes inside.
