Forget 'the dress' debate, social media can't decide if sound is 'Yanny' or 'Laurel'
Forget the debate over whether "the dress" is actually blue or gold, social media is now in a frenzy over whether a sound is "Yanny" or "Laurel."
Some people are insistent that the sound is "Yanny," while others insist that sound is "Laurel."
Good Day Columbus' Cameron Fontana is convinced it depends on the speaker you are using to listen.
"The first time I heard the sound, I heard 'Yanny,'" said Fontana. "But after hearing it again and trying to listen for 'Laurel,' I heard that using computer speakers."
The video was first shared on Twitter by Cloe Feldman. Her tweet has since racked up over 15,000 comments.
Brad Story, Professor of Speech, Language and Hearing at The University of Arizona told Jackson the ambiguity of the sound may come from the quality of the recording.
"It's not a very high quality. And that in itself allows there to be some ambiguity already," said Story.
But Story said after performing an analysis, "Most likely the original recording was 'Laurel."
Despite Story's claim the sound is actually "Laurel," the debate continues.
