COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Homeowners, renters, taxpayers, and school district leaders say they're all feeling the effects of today's housing crisis.
In a 30-minute special airing next Tuesday, May 30, ABC6 On Your Side reporter Lisa Rantala sits down with the experts to ask why so many people are being priced out of their homes and neighborhoods, and if this could have been prevented.
High-interest rates, mortgage rates, and inflation are causing home prices to skyrocket as well as rent. Many homeowners not wanting to pay more property tax are now saying no at the ballot box when it comes to school bonds and levies.
Panelists taking questions at the ABC6 On Your Side studios include Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano, Jennifer Noll with the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, President and CEO of developer Homeport Leah Evans, and economist Howard Fleeter who specializes in school funding.
