COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — A South Columbus youngster is begging for her stolen rabbit to be returned to her.
“I miss him so much,” said 8-year-old Reina, "I wish he was back.”
The little girl’s two-year-old rabbit named Pepper was taken from a fenced in yard on Keobel Road May 4th, while the tame animal was outside.
“I don’t know what he was thinking coming into the front yard,” said Christina Albarran, Reina’s mom, after the suspect was captured on a Ring doorbell allegedly stealing the animal.
“That was wrong for him to do that,” said Reina.
The man who was wearing a black cap and a black sweatshirt with red Ohio State lettering, returned less than 30 minutes later. Allegedly trying to steal a second bunny named Max also in the fenced yard.
The rabbit managed to get away from the man, who was also confronted by Reina’s mom in the front yard.
He can be heard on camera saying he was looking for his lost puppy.
“Just walking into somebody’s yard and stealing their rabbit, they shouldn’t have,” said Reina.
The Columbus Division of Police says the suspect was seen riding a bicycle near Lockbourne Road shortly before the theft.
