A store clerk shot in the leg during a robbery at his family-owned business is now begging for the public's help to catch the criminal.

"Save other people from this kind of stuff," said Reheel Ahmed.

Ahmed was wounded in the right leg when he was shot while working behind the counter at Eastside Market on Leonard Avenue Thursday morning. Columbus police are now looking for the masked gunman who walked into the store and shot the young dad while he was opening the register to hand over cash to the thief.

"He just pulled a gun and shot me, just like that, for nothing," said Ahmed.

Police say the suspect also stole cigarettes and cash from a female customer who was in the store. Ahmed's leg is now wrapped in a bandage. He says he is expected to make a full recovery.

"it just made a couple of holes in my leg, thank God I am going to be okay," said Ahmed.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20-30 years-old, 6'0" tall, thin build, wearing a black hoodie, red t-shirt underneath, faded blue jeans, and a mask over his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus Police at 614-645-4665.
