FRANKLINTON, Ohio — Days after decorating its outside patio with potted plants, a Franklinton restaurant is replacing flowers stolen by a suspected thief.
"Grabbed two planters, put it in the car and left," said Michael Pappas, owner of Tommy's Diner on West Broad Street.
Restaurant security cameras captured a woman Friday night, jump out of an SUV, steal two plants, and then drive off.
"It's just more frustrating trying to make our patio nice when you have people who are greedy and selfish," said Pappas.
Pappas says the plants had just been placed in front of the patio when they were taken and does not believe someone from the neighborhood is responsible.
"We have a lot of good people that care about the community, I feel like this person was passing through," said Pappas.
The diner has posted a video of the theft on social media, hoping the green-thumb bandit sees themselves caught in the act, and learns a valuable lesson.
"Hopefully the video gets back to them," said Pappas, they can see themselves on TV, people who know who it was, will publicly shame them a little bit."
