COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — More than 100 tenants displaced from Latitude Five25 will not be able to move back into the building until it is back up to code.
ABC 6 On Your Side Problem Solvers have been covering the problems at Latitude Five25 since last summer when an elevator stopped working there. The complex came back under scrutiny when a building was evacuated on Christmas Day because of heating and plumbing issues, among others.
Tuesday, the city and the current owners, Paxe Latitude, reached a deal that will allow the tenants to avoid paying rent in January. They also can choose to walk away from their current leases and find living arrangements elsewhere.
Also as part of the deal, Paxe Latitude is now required to sell the building. Owners came into a meeting Tuesday with reports of an offer from a potential buyer. Closing is expected on Feb. 11, or perhaps even sooner.
