Buckeye Basketball: Toughest test to date when Bucks call on 3rd ranked Purdue

COLUMBUS -- The more the 14th ranked Buckeyes win, the bigger the games get.

Certainly true Wednesday night in West Lafayette as the Bucks call on 3rd ranked Purdue, a team complete enough to be called a "national championship contender" by first-year OSU head coach Chris Holtmann.

Holtmann particularly complimentary of the Boilermakers shooting prowess. Purdue shoots 50% from the floor and 42% behind the arc. "It is a joke how good they are."

Purdue is unbeaten in the Big Ten (12-0) and Ohio State is close by with just one conference loss. "It's a hostile environment against an elite team," Holtmann told reporters Tuesday.

The Boilers are also stout in the frontcourt with a pair of 7-footers led by 7-2 senior center Isaac Haas. How did the Buckeyes prepare for that threat ? Sounds like student manager Greg Oden, who also happens to be the former top pick in the NBA draft, got pressed into service.

The game tips Wednesday at 8:30 pm on BTN.
