COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Tuesday defenseman Dean Kukan has been placed on injured reserve. He is expected to miss about eight weeks of action after suffering a fractured wrist in Monday's win over Dallas.
The 28-year-old native of Switzerland has two goals and 17 assists in 114 career games since making his NHL debut with Columbus in 2015-16.
With Kukan going on injured reserve, the Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Gavin Bayreuther from the Cleveland Monsters.
Bayreuther, 27, signed a two-year contract with Columbus during the offseason. He has three goals and assists in 28 career games with the Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars since making his NHL debut in the 2018-19 season.
The Blue Jackets will return to the ice Friday when they visit the New York Rangers.
